So, how can you help?
Friends,
Most of us have often wished and hoped that one day, somewhere, sometime we would be in a position to save a life and make a difference. Now we can make a difference. We can SAVE A LIFE today. 5 minutes of your time could save a precious life. Our son, brother, friend, Ani Das (son of Kamal and Karabi Das of Dallas Fort Worth) needs our help today.
Ani is a bright, caring, wonderful, young 18 year old Indian boy, who has been diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) which is the first stage leading to leukemia. His only hope of cure is bone marrow transplantation, for which, he DESPERATELY NEEDS A Matching DONOR. The best chance for him to find a matching donor is from our South Asian community (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc). Since Ani does not have a sibling, chances of finding a match are very slim, and it is vital to explore as many potential donors as possible.
Step 1: Registration: A simple, painless swab taken in the cheek.
Step 2. Blood Test: ONLY If there is a match from the Registration cheek swab, then the next step is a simple blood test.
Step 3. Marrow Donation. ONLY if there is a match after the blood test, then a small vial of marrow would be taken(under local anesthetic) and used to save Ani's life.
This last and final step (in the slim chance that there is a match)is now a well-established process. THE MOST IMORTANT & VITAL step is to take just 5 minutes and get registered as soon as possible.
