If
there was an award for making a stylish
travelogue across India
with a subversive road epic populated with
moronic villains and gorgeous scenery, then
this would easily be the ultimate winner.
From U-turn to in Bruges and Bollywoods own
Munna Bhai to Musafir, the comic gangster
caper has been portrayed in a vicariously rich
variety; here it is Kapoor’s turn to be
equated as a comic caricature of a Kanpuri Don
to bite the dust.
It is also shameful that Akshay
Kumar actually makes direct equivocal
comparisons between Amitabh
Bachchan and this really perverted,
ragtag don. If this is a joke i t
was not amusing and if it was a quip on
Mr.Bachan, then it was tasteless, both on part
of Yashraj and Akshay
Kumar, whatever the faults of
Mr.bachchan, he is far more talented than
Mr.Kumar.
Mr.Kumar incidentally is called Bachchan
Badmash in this rather familiar and
diversionary cinema, which has everything from
stylish stunts, gorgeous Kareena
Kapoor
in a bikini and locales to die for but alas
lacks the one thing obligatory to make a good
cinema a script, it seems like the Bollywood
writers were on a strike and they made this as
an incoherent mix of Jetli martial arts and
wild west jokes in a rancid blend
of somewhat stylish vendetta road drama, the
fact this road does not lead anywhere is
obvious after the first 20 minutes.
The songs are average except for “falak”
which is choreographed
in an eye-catching manner, Mr.Kaporr overacts
in a clone of a revisionist Javed Jaffrey from
Salam Namaste, while
Saif
Ali Khan has little to do except run
around like an errand boy, Kareena has the
best role but it is not enough.
The
flashy costumes suit the overblown characters,
the action is incredible in the negative sense
of the word and the director is mediocre,
though he has a flair for visual style but he
needs a script which is less familiar then
this and offers something unique rather than
this bull tripe.
I learnt something today though, Mr.Yash
Chopra has had a huge quarrel with Mr.Bachchan
so get ready to see a Bollywood battle played
out by some Bollywood baddies on the screen,
whether it is a metaphor or just a bad story
is anybody's guess.

For record Kareena has no screen chemistry
with Saif
Ali Khan and she really disappoints
after get of JAB WE MET, she looks good but we
need to see her in a convincing script,
particularly when we know how good she is
after Jab We Met and Omkara.
This unfortunately does not come near them in
either entertainment or artistic cadre I feel
sorry for all involved as this was a fancy
project-and by the wry. What the hell is
TASHAN?
