Coronary heart disease is America's
Number one killer, while stroke is number three and a
leading cause of serious disability.

More than 1.1 million Americans
suffers heart attacks each year (some 650,000 of them
first time attacks) and approximately 350,000 die.

63% of women and 50% of men who die
suddenly of Coronary heart disease show no previous
symptoms.

Almost 80% of heart disease
mortality in people under age 65 occurs during the
first heart attack.

Stroke kills nearly 160,000
Americans each year. Over 60% of those deaths are

The chance of having a stroke
before age 70 is one in 20 for both men and
women.

For people over age 55, the
incidence of stroke more than doubles in each
successive decade.

have a stroke within six years after a heart attack.

women are alive today who have survived a heart attack
